Rage 2 was officially announced three days ago after the series of presumably controlled by Bethesda leaks. Some fans may be disappointed with the direction of the sequel, as the post-apocalyptic and grim tone will be replaced with more colorful and "happy" art style, similarly to the transition from
Watch_Dogs to
Watch_Dogs 2, so it's not really surprising that some players didn't like this decision.
But this development will make a lot of them more than happy, as id Software boss Tim Willits and Bethesda have confirmed that
Rage 2 will not have traditional loot boxes in an interview with German website GameStar. id Software and Avalanche Studios strongly believe in the "new" "
you can buy and play a game" strategy. Of course, it's hard to imagine an AAA title without a "live" support nowadays.
Willits explained that
Rage 2 will have some live service elements to keep players engaged with the title a little bit longer as both studios follow the games-as-service approach. Hopefully, id Software and Avalanche will study Ubisoft's, and not EA's path, and this so-called "
live content" won't be filled with
Battlefront II's pay-to-win elements and "upgrades" for the players who don't have time to play games.
