Lucasfilm and ILMxLAB recently announced an upcoming Star Wars VR series called Vader Immortal which will be coming out for the Oculus Quest next year.
Unveiled during a developer conference in California at the Oculus Quest 2018 event, the series was said to be a launch title for the upcoming VR tech - which will be arriving in 2019. During the announcement ILMxLAB showed off a teaser trailer for the first of the three episodes - which you can watch below:
Film writer, producer, and director David S Goyer, who is attached to the project as a writer and executive producer, on the project. StarWars.com reveals that we'll be able to explore Vader's Castle (which made its debut in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and that they're working on optimising the lightsaber combat - which we're given an ever so brief glimpse of near the end of the trailer.
Goyer had this to regarding the VR project: "We came up with the concept, and then we had a conversation about where in the timeline it would fit. Everyone felt very strongly that it’s a legitimate Vader story and that it advances the ball in terms of who he is and what his goals are. We were also determined to make sure that it’s a story you can only experience in VR. There aren’t any other plans to port this into any other medium. We wanted to design it specifically for VR."
