After supporting Star Wars Battlefront II since 2017, DICE reportedly pitched a third instalment to Electronic Arts last year. The publisher apparently shot down the studio's propsal for Star Wars Battlefront III and the classic Star Wars shooter series would lay dormant once more.
Some fans of the recent Star Wars Battlefront games, though, remain hopeful that a third entry could see the light of day. Many speculate that Star Wars Battlefront III is actually in the works, however, it is beind developed by Respawn Entertainment instead of DICE. Respawn are best known for the Titanfall duology and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
The studio is reportedly working on further video game entries in the Star Wars franchise, however, a reputable insider by the name of Jeff Grubb recently took to Twitter to declare that they are not making Star Wars Battlefront III. Grubb, in fact, declared a very decisive "absolutely not," at the notion, as you can see below (via @JeffGrubb).
Grubb is a very credible insider and so it seems that the Star Wars Battlefront franchise is indeed dead in the water. Perhaps if fans stir up enough of a fuss, though, Electronic Arts will see that there's demand for another instalment.
