Electronic Arts has briefly outlined its plans for future Star Wars games in the pipeline, revealing a rough window for when fans can expect Respawn's upcoming action game set in the galaxy far, far away.
Speaking during EA's Q3 2018 earnings call, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen reminded folks that EA has "not announced our products for fiscal [year 2020] yet," but added that Respawn's title "most likely would drop in fiscal 2020 versus another [Star Wars] Battlefront."
This would put Respawn's Star Wars title somewhere in the window of April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020, as EA's fiscal years are offset from the calendar year.
Jorgensen added that the company hasn't "decided timing for another Battlefront yet," which would imply the company is moving forward with the franchise despite "lower than expected" sales of Battlefront 2.
"We think the Star Wars Battlefront 2 is very core and is amazing game," EA CEO Andrew Wilson added. "The team is working diligently on update and extra content for the live services around Star Wars Battlefront 2."
EA first confirmed Respawn's Star Wars game back in 2016, but little has been revealed about the game since. The publisher officially acquired the studio, which also develops the Titanfall franchise, last year. EA had an additional Star Wars game in development, headed by Amy Hennig, at its Visceral studio, but the publisher shuttered the studio late last year and rebooted the title over at EA Vancouver. There's no word on when we can expect to hear about that one.
