It's thought that the Star Wars Battlefront sequel wil be released next fall, and EA's Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen has now revealed more about what we should expect from the highly anticipated follow-up. However, before we get to that, he also confirmed at the Nasdaq 35th Investor Program (via VideoGamer) that the success of the franchise means Battlefield is on the back burner.
Apparently, DICE's priority is Battlefront 2, and that means they're, "working very hard on making sure that is an extremely deep and engaging offering." Does that mean we'll finally get a single player campaign of some sort? The fact it was missing from the first instalment still bothers many fans.
"We were very excited about how Star Wars [Battlefront] came out last year," Jorgensen revealed. "It’s a beautiful game, people loved it. I think if there was criticism they just wanted more. And so we’re taking that criticism to heart as we build the next game and trying to address any of the issues that they had. The other thing is, we were really working with the old canvas of Star Wars, the old trilogy, we weren’t using any of the new materials that came out of [Episode 8] because our game actually came out slightly before the movie. Next year we’ll have the opportunity to leverage more of that content from the new movies and we think that’ll make the opportunity much larger."
Things are sounding good for the sequel then, and with it set to include content from the new Star Wars trilogy, fans have a long list of reasons to be exciting about what's to come in the follow-up.
