EA has lifted the curtain on Season Two of
Star Wars Battlefront 2, revealing the first batch of content coming next week with the start of The Han Solo Season. Starting May 16 and spanning a full two months, EA promises challenges and season quests
“inspired by Han Solo’s closets friendships and against some of his greatest rivals.” More specifically, the first bit of content will include a new game mode, a custom arcade, and a new map and additional character skins.
Arriving alongside The Han Solo Season will be the new mode “Hero Showdown.” This best-of-five match is similar to to the Heroes vs Villains Game Mode, but with a brand new rule set.
In this 2v2 game mode, players will begin the match by picking their Heroes. Should you be defeated you must put all your hope into your teammate and wait until the round is over.
If your team is successful and wins the round, you are unable to use the Heroes that you previously used. However, if your team loses the round you're free to pick any available Hero, including the ones you've just used.
In addition to the new mode, players will be able to visit Jabba’s Palace as a brand new map playable in Heroes vs Villains, Blast, and Arcade. Jabba’s palace isn’t the only thing from
Return of the Jedi that will be coming to
Battlefront 2; Lando Calrissian will be receiving an Epic based on his Appearance within Jabba’s palace. EA is also introducing the game’s first Legendary Appearance in
Battlefront 2; Leia in the form of her iconic Boushh outfit, also from
Return of the Jedi. In addition to her new look, the Legendary Appearance will also make use of Leia’s speech scrambler and speak Ubese. EA promises more Appearances planned, so be sure to check back.
Also arriving with The Han Solo Season will be the Starfighter Custom Arcade, a place where you can familiarize yourself with the Starfighters in the game and hone your skills against AI opponents. Starfighter Arcade will be available when Season Two starts on May 16.
The Han Solo Season isn’t just about new maps and modes, though. EA has made some quality of life changes to the main menu of the game, breaking up the Multiplayer menu into three main categories: Assault, Heroes and Villains, and Operations. The holographic effect you see within the menus is also being replaced with “something else,” but EA is keeping that a surprise for now. Listening to fan feedback, you’ll also now be able to spend your Skill Points in between rounds. Lastly, Season Two will bring Score Milestones for each Trooper, Hero and Specials. Troopers will receive three tiers, while Heroes and Specials will have two new tiers.
This is just the first batch of content for The Han Solo Season, arriving May 16. Additional content for The Han Solo Season, presumably based on the movie
Solo: A Star Wars Story (hitting theaters May 25) will be released in June. EA will share more information about this, including details of a brand new world, in the not so distant future.
