STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT II - Season 2 Announcement Set To Arrive This May; Is General Grievous Coming?
It's been about four months since Star Wars: Battlefront II had its first season of DLC, and it looks like we'll finally be getting some information the game's next season very soon. Hit the jump for more info.
Despite the controversy over the game’s loot boxes and progression system, the reception to Star Wars: Battlefront II's Last Jedi season of DLC —
which arrived around a month after the game’s release —
was mostly positive. This first season, to the joy of many fans, introduced new heroes with Finn and Captain Phasma and new maps.
As a result, many fans have been waiting patiently for the next season of free DLC. However, because it’s been about four months since the last season a lot of the excitement has turned to frustration. Thankfully, it looks as if an announcement is coming very soon.
On Twitter, the community leader for EA’s various Star Wars games, Ben Walke was asked by a fan about when we could see an official announcement for season 2. Walke’s response to the question was very simple but exciting: “Early May!” Not only does this answer mean we can expect an announcement next month, but since the question Walke was answering described “early May” as meaning the FIRST week of May, we may actually get the official announcement next week.
Currently, speculation points to the next season being related to the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story movie, but if some recently reveled information is accurate we may be seeing a prequel era character come to the game.
According to Reddit user FaintMelodyOfLight, some UI metadata from the game’s launch was recently allowed to be activated. The data apparently reveals placeholders for General Grievous and reveals the character’s abilities. For starters, it shows the villains primary weapon will be his multiple lightsabers. Meanwhile, his abilities will be a “Stun Slam,” a “Lightsaber Spin” and “Buzz-Saw.”

Nothing else about the villain, or when we can see him released, has been revealed, but the activation suggest Grievous could be coming soon perhaps even with the upcoming second season. If Grievous does arrive, he will be the first prequel era character to join the game post-launch. And more content centered around the Clone Wars, has been something fans have been clamoring for since the game was first announced.
