STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT Offline Modes Finally Confirmed; Death Star DLC Teased

It's been a long time coming, but EA has finally shed some light on major offline changes coming to Star Wars: Battlefront while also teasing the addition of a new hero character in the Death Star DLC...

EA has confirmed today that Star Wars Battlefront is indeed getting an offline Skirmish mode which will be available from July 20th. That will allow players to square off either with bots on their own or with a friend using split-screen local co-op (a rarity in the vast majority of games these days thanks to the focus on online gaming). The modes available for this will be Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron.

While the prospect of playing Walker Assault against bots rather than real people may not sound all that exciting, there will be multiple difficulty levels which should help to spice things up a little.

They've also revealed that September's Death Star DLC will include new maps set both on the ground and in space, while one of the two new heroes is going to be a, "larger-than-life character we know you've been patiently waiting for." Who could that be? Honestly, it's hard to say at this point seeing as our only options are characters from the original trilogy era! Let us know your theories below.
