While the Stockholm-based Ubisoft Massive is leading the development of
Tom Clancy's The Division 2, other Ubisoft studios are also involved in the complex process of making the video game. Red Storm Entertainment is one of those developers, and a brand new featurette recently published by Ubisoft showcases the Californian studio's impressive output as well as the legacy of the late Tom Clancy.
Founded in May 1996 by Clancy, Royal Navy Captain Doug Littlejohns and Creative Director Steve Reid (who's also one of the stars of the said video), Red Storm debuted in 1998 with
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, a groundbreaking FPS that has proven that shooters can be fun even if they ask you to start thinking, carefully planning your next moves, instead of shooting endless waves of braindead enemies.
Rainbow Six wasn't the only franchise that was born at Red Storm, as the Morrisville-based studio also launched the first
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon (in 2001), its many sequels, and even some spin-offs. The devs have also had a chance to support Ubisoft Montreal during their work on
Far Cry 3 and
Far Cry 4.
Tom Clancy's The Division 2 might be releasing pretty soon (on March 15th), but there's no denying that all Ubisoft teams involved in the looter shooter's production (at there are many of them, including major Ubisoft teams at Massive, Annecy, Bucharest, Reflections, Leamington, Shanghai, and obviously Red Storm) are still working hard to launch a polished, and most importantly, enjoyable final product.
Be sure to find out what Red Strom has been doing all those years in this new video, that also gives the developers an opportunity to explain what the
Tom Clancy name means to them. Take a look below:
Washington D.C. is on the brink of collapse. Lawlessness and instability threaten our society, and rumors of a coup in the capitol are only amplifying the chaos. All active Division agents are desperately needed to save the city before it's too late. You are a member of the Division, an elite group of civilian agents charged with being the last line of defense. With DC at risk, it's time to gear up and use your unique skills to take on this new threat.
Tom Clancy's The Division 2 will be available March 15th, 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
