Ubisoft has revealed that The Division 2's next expansion, Battle for Brooklyn, will release on May 7th. The upcoming DLC will take players back to New York to take on the Cleaners and Rikers, who have crossed the river from Manhattan.
Battle for Brooklyn faithfully recreates the neighborhoods of Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo, including some familiar areas for The Division 1 players as well as some new areas never explored in the franchise.
"We're going back to Brooklyn because sometimes you need to go back to see how far you've come," explained narrative director Lauren Stone. "A lot has happened in Brooklyn since the prologue of The Division 1. People have moved over, trying to escape the chaos of Manhattan and they're looking to build a new life. Make a change."
The DLC will take place during autumn, a time of year not yet featured in the franchise. This will signify a passage of time and the evolution of the game's characters as we approach the one year anniversary of activation.
Players are called to return to Brooklyn to help defend The Bridge, a settlement that is under threat from the Cleaners and Rikers. Those who experienced The Division 2's first Incursion, "Paradise Lost" at the Meret Estate might remember the Purple Flame. The Cleaners have now found a way to mass produce this dangerous corrosive, which now adds another level of difficulty in your encounters with them. Not only do Cleaners now threaten to set you on fire, but the corrosion will reduce your max armor for that encounter.
Battle for Brooklyn is said to offer about 6 to 10 hours of new content, including.4 control points, 12 living world activities, 10 bounty locations, 8 hunter readers, and a new set of collectible bounties. The DLC also features a reimagined take on Smart Cover, a skill first introduced in The Division which enables players to reinforce cover, gain offensive and defensive buffs, and enhance pulse resistance for all allies. The DLC exclusive Catalyst Exotic Mask will also be helpful in dealing with the Cleaners as it grants bonuses for dealing and receiving status effect damage.
Battle for Brooklyn will be released on May 27th. It arrives as Ubisoft prepares for Year 7 of The Division 2, approaching the game with three main goals: "improving the onboarding process for new players, adding more depth the endgame gameplay loop, and solidifying seasons as a cornerstone of the game's experience."
