Yesterday, the giant rocket within the lair overlooking Snobby Hills launched yesterday unleashing chaos across Fortnite Battle Royale's map in a truly spectacular in-game moment.

Prior to yesterday's event, Epic had been teasing the rocket's launch through a countdown across televisions within the game. At 1:30pm ET yesterday, the rocket lifted off and flew across the map before finally ripping through the sky, leaving a massive tear. Here are a few videos from yesterday's in-game event:

As you can see from the videos above, the rocket was initially heading towards Tilted Towers before a rift (or something) opened up and caused it to shoot off course and zip around the sky before launching back into space and leaving a tear in the sky. While the map largely remains the same following the event, part of the rocket did crash into Anarchy Acres. You can also find some sort of portal/rift at Lonely Lodge.

We'll likely have to wait until Season 5 starts later this month for any big changes to the map, but it was still a really cool one-time event. Fortnite Battle Royale Season 5 begins July 12. Until then, all we can do is speculate about what this rocket launch means for the new season.
