FORTNITE "No Build" Mode Could Be A Permanent Option, According To Dataminer Findings

It was believed that the removal of building in Fortnite would only be temporary as it pertained to the story; however, new datamining evidence points to a potential permanent game mode option.

There have been many attempts to try and capture the battle royale magic of Fortnite but no matter how many clones we get, one of the things that kept Epic Games' blockbuster hit unique was its build mechanic. Fortnite allowed players to farm resources and use them to build massive structures to use as protection against incoming enemy fire. But as the game evolved, so did the complexity of player build structures and, ultimately, the game's most unique feature also became its most controversial.

With the arrival of Chapter 3, Season 2 this week, Epic Games disabled the ability to build from Fortnite's default mode. It was believed that this would only be temporary, pertaining to Fortnite's overarching story. Many believed building would be restored by March 29th.

However, dataminers have discovered game files that indicate a "no build" mode could be permanent. Prominent Fortnite leaker HYPEX claimed to have evidence in the game's files pointing to separate no build game modes. Once this limited time event ends (or perhaps at the end of the season), it appears players will be able to choose between the original game mode that allows for building or this new no build mode. Adding further proof, HYPEX reports that most of the new loading screens have tips that say "In modes with building enabled," suggesting there will be multiple options available for players.

Fellow Fortnite account TweaBR also shared menu graphics of the no build mode option, and claims this will be available for Solo, Duos, Trios, and Squads.

Epic Games hasn't officially commented on the removal of building in Fortnite, but both of these accounts have shared accurate leaks in the past. While building has remained a controversial feature in Fortnite, removing it has proven to be equally controversial.
