TWITCH, YOUTUBE GAMING Or MIXER: Which Streaming Platform Saw The Biggest Growth In 2018?
Twitch is the undisputed king of streaming platforms but is their growth stagnant? Is it feasible that YouTube Gaming could one day surpass them?
According to a report from Venture Beat, Twitch accumulated 9.36 billion hours of watched content in 2018. That's up 25% from 2017.
Their biggest competitor, YouTube Gaming, accumulated only 2.3 billion hours of watched content, roughly 25% of what Twitch amassed. However, the key stat here is that YouTube Gaming's watched hours were up 104% from what they achieved in 2017. Obviously, if this trend continues, they'll soon be neck-and-neck with Twitch.
Coming in third, was Microsoft's Mixer, which accumulated just 168 million hours of watched content. Still, that figure represents a 179% percent increase over Mixer's 2017 tally. The Xbox streaming platform launched in 2016.
Below, you can also check out Venture Beat's list of the top watches games across all 3 streaming platforms.
