EA has announced that both EA Sports Collge Football 27 and Madden NFL 27 will be revealed this week, confirming previous reports of an early June reveal.

Rather than revealing each game individually as the publisher has done in the past, the games will be revealed simultaneously as part of a program called "EA Sports Opening Drive."

"EA Sports Opening Drive brings together the full vision of College Football and Madden NFL in one connected showcase, covering every mode, every major innovation, and every way to play," the publisher said.

EA Sports Opening Drive is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 4, one day ahead of the official start of Summer Game Fest.

EA has been quietly building something pretty cool across its football games. College Football and Madden are no longer just two separate titles that happen to share a sport. They're starting to feel like one big connected experience.

It kicked off in College Football 25, where you could build a player, run them through their college career in Road to Glory, and then export them straight into Madden NFL 25 to keep the story going in Superstar Mode. Simple enough idea, but fans loved it.

College Football 26 and Madden NFL 26 took that same pipeline and made it way smoother. Madden's Superstar Mode got a full overhaul, and importing your college player actually meant something. You'd carry over ratings bonuses and creation point rewards. On top of that, Madden 26 pulled some of the best ideas from the College Football side of things, like expanded wear-and-tear systems and deeper team-building mechanics that had been a big hit with players.

The marketing has also leaned into this pretty hard too. EA has pushed the "high school recruit to NFL superstar" angle as the central story of their football universe. They've also backed it up commercially with the MVP Bundle, which packages Deluxe Editions of both games together at a slight discount, essentially selling the whole journey as one product.

It sounds like EA will continue to expand on this world-building and cross-promotion with both College Football 27 and Madden NFL 27. The reveal on Thursday will likely entail cover athlete announcements, new and improved gameplay features, more interconnected experiences, and pre-order/release date details. Actual player ratings are likely to come later in the summer, especially for Madden, which typically has a ratings reveal week in late July/early August.
