At its core,
Frostpunk a city-building game, but you should forget about the sunny climate of the
Tropico series, as 11 bit studios asks you to prepare your people for the next ice age that is approaching fast. According to Metacritic's statistics,
Frostpunk is currently the fourth most shared PC game of 2018, and also one of the best-reviewed ones, sitting at a respectable 84% score on the review aggregator.
While 11 bit studios has already sold 1 million copies of
Frostpunk worldwide, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners are still waiting for their turn to check out the acclaimed title. The fact that the Warsaw-based developer utilizes their own Liquid Engine forces 11 bit to work on the console port on their own, as they know best how to optimize and adapt the development tool they have created.
According to Polish website GraczPospolita,
Frostpunk PS4 and Xbox One editions will be released in the first months of 2019, but we have no exact release date for the port as of yet. We don't even know if 11 bit will release a retail version of the game, like they did with
This War of Mine: The Little Ones. 11 bit is simultaneously supporting
Frostpunk and
This War of Mine, while developing a new
Project 8.
Frostpunk is the first game of society survival. In an ultimately frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. The city ruler has to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastracture the citizens live in.
