Mutant Year Zero was announced earlier in 2018 with a wonderful CG trailer and today we finally have a chance to see the newest project of the developers who brought us the Hitman and Payday series. Mutant is set in a "post-human" world which was destroyed during the nuclear holocaust. When the dust settled, the real children of atom (take that, X-Men fans) became the only remaining survivors.
Road to Eden is one of the most unique titles in a while and it's hard to not fall in love with the designs of the mutant hybrids. Show me another game that features human-looking pigs and mutated ducks. Oh, yeah, Michel Ancel's Beyond Good and Evil (which will finally get a sequel after more than 15 years since its release) was an inspiration for the devs, but let's not forget that Mutant is also a book series.
Funcom has released a brand new gameplay videos, giving us a brand new, extended look at the world and mechanisms of Year Zero. Studio The Bearded Ladies is clearly inspired by the X-COM series as the title runs on Unreal Engine 4 which seemingly does a good job rendering at least two different perspectives at the same time. Be sure to check out twenty minutes of new gameplay down below!
A tactical adventure game combining the turn-based combat of XCOM with story, exploration, stealth, and strategy. Take control of a team of Mutants navigating a post-human Earth. Created by a team including former HITMAN leads and the designer of PAYDAY.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will be releasing on December 4, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
