Henry Cavill, an actor known for playing Superman in the DC film universe, will soon return to the world of television series. This time he will be playing Geralt de Rivia in The Witcher series that is in production on Netflix.
According to sources from various media, including The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the production of The Witcher signed Cavill to be responsible for giving life to Geralt de Rivia on the small screen. Thus, the actor of Mission Impossible: Fallout will join the production of Lauren Schmidt Hissrich to play the monster hunter in an adventure that will be based on the books of Andrzej Sapkowski and not in the saga of video games of CD PROJEKT RED.
If that information is not enough to convince you, you should know that both Netflix and Cavill are ready to go. First, the actor posted on his Instagram account a photograph showing that his Netflix profile is called Geralt of Rivia and indicated that his new home is Kaer Morhen. On the other hand, Netflix revealed the news in several of its Twitter accounts.
It is important to remember that about a month ago, Cavill confessed that he would like to play Geralt in this production. He also proclaimed himself a fan of the saga written by Andrzej Sapkowski. Thus, the role of the beloved character is in the hands of someone who is excited to do so, in addition to knowing and respecting its source material.
The Witcher's Netflix series will consist of 8 episodes that will be directed by creatives such as Lauren Schmidt, Alex García López and Charlotte Brandstorm. Its production team also includes Alik Sakharov, who is best known for his work on House of Cards and Game or Thrones.
