After months of silence following its initial reveal, Silent Hill f has returned with a terrifying new trailer and a much earlier-than-expected release date. Unveiled during the latest PlayStation State of Play, Konami’s upcoming psychological horror entry will launch September 25, 2025, plunging players into a haunting reimagining of 1960s Japan.
The latest trailer delivers exactly what Silent Hill fans have been craving disturbing imagery, intense combat, and grotesque monsters born from trauma and decay. While the project’s early teaser was cryptic and atmospheric, this new footage offers a clearer look at the protagonist, setting, and core gameplay. Feast your eyes upon it down below (Although it is most likely age restricted so you might have to watch it on Youtube):
A Bloody Return to the Franchise’s Roots
Much like the series' past entries, melee combat appears to be central in Silent Hill f. In the new trailer, we see the protagonist wielding the series’ iconic blood-covered lead pipe, fending off monstrous enemies that look pulled straight from the deepest recesses of the human psyche. A brief glimpse shows her holding a long spear-like weapon as well, suggesting players may get access to multiple tools for survival.
The monsters themselves are horrifying in true Silent Hill fashion twisted, fleshy amalgamations of body horror and symbolism. Though combat appears more prominent this time around, the game still retains the series' signature unease and dread-filled pacing.
Welcome to 1960s Japan
Silent Hill f is set in 1960s Japan, offering a fresh cultural and visual twist on the franchise’s usual Western-inspired towns. This shift in setting also aligns with the game's creative team, which includes Ryukishi07, the acclaimed horror writer behind Higurashi When They Cry. The eerie floral-infused horror style seen in previous teasers now makes more sense in this historical and cultural context.
The return to a more grounded, personal horror story focused on isolation, decay, and transformation has rekindled excitement for the Silent Hill brand, especially after a decade of dormancy.
A Big Year for Silent Hill Fans
With the Silent Hill 2 Remake also launching this year, Silent Hill f adds to what’s shaping up to be a landmark year for the franchise. Two major titles in one calendar year is something longtime fans could only dream of until now. For horror fans and Silent Hill veterans alike, September 25 can’t come soon enough.
