Final Fantasy 15 is out on PS4 and Xbox One on November 29 after originally being slated for a September release.

The Death Spell has been staple of Final Fantasy games since the early days of the franchise but XV will look to tweak its use a bit.  As opposed to normal spell-casting, it look as if you will need a special item to cast this particular type of Black Magic.

Another change is the fact that the spell will gradually damage an opponent over time, draining HP in a manner reminiscent of how the Poison spell typically works.  In past Final Fantasy games, the Death Spell was typically a hit-or-miss spell that when successful, would create a countdown over an enemy which resulted in their demise once the countdown reached 0.

As revealed exclusively during the FINAL FANTASY XV presentation at TwitchCon 2016, witness Death magic – one of the powerful spells granted by the Ring of the Lucii. Death drains the HP of enemies. The longer you use the spell, the more your enemy will physically deteriorate. In this video Death is used to tackle a variety of enemies, including another exclusive reveal – the fearsome Bandersnatch!

Final Fantasy XV will be available on November 29th, 2016 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
