Originally released in 2013 for Microsoft Windows, Digital Extremes'
Warframe is a free-to-play third-person shooter with sci-fi elements. Later in 2013, the game was ported to the PlayStation 4; with the Xbox one version becoming available in September of 2014.
In July of this year, developer Digital Extremes announced that
Warframe was finally coming to the Nintendo Switch, although it was still in development and wasn't given an official release date. The Nintendo Switch version of
Warframe was being ported by Panic Button, who have become well-known amongst Switch users after they successfully managed to port
Doom(2016) and
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
Warframe for the Nintendo Switch was finally released on the 20th of November and today, a bit over two weeks after its release, Digital Extremes officially announced that the game has already been downloaded over 1 million times.
The Nintendo Switch version of the
Warframe offers players pretty much the same experience it does on other, more powerful platforms; so it is not really a surprise that the game has done this well in such a short amount of time. Well done, Panic Button and Digital Extremes.
They were called Tenno. Warriors of blade and gun – masters of the Warframe armor. Those that survived the Old War were left drifting among the ruins. Now they are needed once more.
Warframe is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows..
