Last year, Bloober Team announced plans to re-release its cyberpunk thriller, Observer, for next-generation consoles under the name Observer System Redux. With plans to release the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2020, the team shared a lengthy gameplay demo during IGN's Summer of Gaming Expo.
The nearly 10-minute video highlights new content and changes made for the updated version of the psychological horror game that was originally released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2017. Lighting Artist Tomasz Bentkowski highlights how the team used the next-gen power to deliver an even more immersive vision of the year 2084.
Observer System Redux has rebuilt and upgraded visuals with improved assets, including 4K textures, new high-quality animations and models, and upgraded aprticle effects and simulations. The overall lighting quality has also been significantly increased across the whole game with the support of HDR and Ray-Tracing. The use of volumetric lights and global illumination allows for a more atmosheric and impressive depiction of the dark cyberpunk future that Observer System Redux is set in. Lastly, load times have been massively shortened thanks to the use of SSDs. Observer System Redux will run at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
Observer System Redux is the definitive vision of the award-winning cyberpunk thriller, rebuilt and augmented for the next generation. You are Daniel Lazarski, portrayed by late Rutger Hauer, an elite investigator of the future able to hack into the minds of other people.
Observer System Redux is being co-developed between Anshar Studios and Bloober Team. It's slated to arrive on next-gen consoles in 2020, although no exact release date has been announced yet.
