Motorstorm and Driveclub developer Evolution Studios was officially closed by Sony two years ago, but Codemasters was lucky enough to hire some really skilled developers who worked on one of the best arcade racing games of last generation, Motorstorm, and asked them to produce a worthy successor of Sony's abandoned series. It looks like the studio will definitely deliver the goods with Onrush

Codemasters has released a brand new gameplay trailer for Onrush which introduces the game modes of its upcoming arcade racing game, Countdown, Lockdown, Switch, and Overdrive:

Countdown – Countdown is a race through the gates against an ever-ticking clock. Hitting the gates will add precious seconds to your team’s time, keeping you in the game.

Lockdown – Lockdown is a race to fight for control of a moving zone in a 100mph King of the Hill free for all. Get in the zone and fight for survival.

Switch – Survive as long as you can hunting down your opponents. You’ll get increasingly stronger vehicles each time you’re knocked out, but so will they. Be strategic and work with your team to win.

Overdrive – Overdrive mode is a pure ‘boost to win’ onslaught until the very end. Get boost any way you can as quickly as possible and burn it up even quicker.

Onrush is fast, spectacularly arcade in the best meaning of the word, using the mechanisms you've seen and loved in the Mario Kart series. The game seems to be heavily influenced by the Trackmania and Burnout franchises, two extremely arcade and "easy to learn, hard to master" racing games.

Race, smash and takedown your opponents in ONRUSH, a refreshing break from the norm epic action/arcade racer. Voted for by millions of on-line fans you step in as one of the 12 most exciting and popular Onrush competitors in the world.

Onrush is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 5, 2018.
