Playtonic's YOOKA-LAYLEE Underperforms As The 64-Bit Tonic Becomes Available Today

Playtonic has just released the 64-Bit Tonic for the Nintendo Switch and PC versions of Yooka-Layle, which makes the game look like the 3D platformers the game was inspired by.

Inspired by Rare's acclaimed Banjo-Kazooie series, Playtonic's Yooka-Laylee is a collectathon game that brings back all of the elements found in the 3D platforming genre from the 64-Bit era.

Yooka-Laylee has been doing great since it first release, with the developer revealing back in November that the game had managed to sell a very respectable 1 million units across all of the available platforms.

It was in October, however, when Playtonic announced that they would be giving players the chance to play Yooka-Laylee with some downgraded graphics that would make the game look like one of the 3D platformers from the 64-Bit era, and today this new patch has finally been released for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Although the Nintendo Switch and PC are the first platforms to get the 64-Bit Tonic, as the developer calls this new update, Playtonic reassures players that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will also be getting the update; they jsut have to work on a few more bugs before they can release it.

Check out the release trailer below:

Explore huge, beautiful worlds, meet (and beat) an unforgettable cast of characters and horde a vault-load of shiny collectibles as buddy-duo Yooka (the green one) and Laylee (the wisecracking bat with the big nose) embark on an epic adventure to thwart corporate creep Capital B and his devious scheme to absorb all the world’s books… and convert them into pure profit!

Yooka-Laylee is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
