Back in August of this year, Sega announced that they were working on Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, and that the game was expected to launch in December for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S; with the PlayStation 5 and PC(Steam) versions releasing at a later date.
Today Sega has released a new trailer for the upcoming puzzle game, which reveals that the PlayStation 5 version of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 will also be releasing alongside other platforms on Tuesday the 8th of December. Unfortunately, the Steam version still doesn't have an official release date.
It is also worth reminding players that pre-orders for both the digital and retail versions of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 are currently open via Sega's official website for the game, which you can visit by clicking right here.
The announcement trailer for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 was nothing special. Everyone who's played the original Puyo Puyo Tetris, or any of the games in the Puyo Puyo or Tetris series knows well what to expect from these kind of games, but the latest trailer reveals that RPG elements are being incorporated.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2's all-new "Skill Battle" mode will see players leveling up their teams of three, and equipping item cards to boost their stats and defeat their opponents — adding a new layer to the formula that will give the game even more value, which is a welcome addition.
