Total War's evolution is almost here – as Creative Assembly's
Total War: Three Kingdoms launches on May 23rd, introducing players to a new theater of war – the Middle Kingdom.
In
Three Kingdoms, you will have a chance to witness the rise and fall of three Chinese warlords from their personal perspectives. Liu Bei will be one of those leaders believing that they are the ones destined to rule ancient China with an iron first – so it comes as no surprise that he's the main start of the first launch trailer for
Total War: Three Kingdoms. As a reminder, the titular conflict was the real-world tripartite division and battle for supremacy in China between the states of Wei, Shu, and Wu.
While the latest
Total War entry in an indirect adaptation of Luo Guanzhong’s 14th century epic
Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the real-time strategy game will also feature a special Romance Mode that takes an embellishment from said novel and applies it to the game's generals and narrative, giving the most prominent characters some truly supernatural abilities and other pretty otherworldly skills.
