Reportedly, THE DARK PICTURES: MAN OF MEDAN Features UNTIL DAWN's Psychologist Mechanic

The latest Supermassive Games' production is similar to Until Dawn in many ways, and the new report confims that the studio will reuse the most important mechanics from the popular PlayStation 4 horror...

Until Dawn was released exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2015. The title received generally positive reviews as the horror adventure featured some refreshing ideas that let the title thrive, despite telling a standard story with teenagers lost in the woods. One of the most notable inventions allowed you to meet with a psychiatrist. During those meetings, the player had a chance to shape the main story.

According to Kotaku, this motive will return in Supermassive’s next game, The Dark Picture: Man of Medan. Just like Until Dawn, Medan will allow you to make choices outside the core storyline. Kotaku's sources confirmed that this time it won't be a psychiatrist, but a curator. The psychiatrist was played by Peter Stormare (Fargo, Prison Break) so it's interesting who will portray the aforementioned curator.

Man of Medan will supposedly start a new game cycle united under one The Dark Pictures roof. Supermassive has announced that we will get two new games a year, each title with a different cast of characters, stories and environments. The first chapter takes place in the South Pacific as the player will control a group of friends that discover a World War II wreck that hides many terrible secrets.

Man of Medan is the first game in the Dark Pictures Anthology, bringing supernatural horror to the South Pacific. As the player you’ll get to shape the story through your actions and decisions. Who will live, who will die - It’s all down to you...

The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan comes out on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019.
