CONFIRMED: FINAL FANTASXY XV Officially Delayed
At Gamescom, Square Enix citing a desire to avoid a huge Day 1 patch and has officially confirmed that Final Fantasy XV has been delayed in a video from Game Director Hajime Tabata. Were you planning a special celebration on September 30?
After rumors of a delay first surfaced over the weekend via Kotaku, Square Enix has officially confirmed that Final Fantasy XV, originally slated to be released in 45 days on September 30, had been delayed until November 29, 2016. Fan reaction has been mixed, with half welcoming the small delay if it means a more polished game while the other half is having a hard time accepting that carefully laid plans to celebrate the first, true standalone Final Fantasy entry in approximately 10 years will have to be altered.
In an official statement, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata said the development team is aiming “to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series" and that they need “a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this. As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want Final Fantasy XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”
