Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have officially unveiled the first four playable characters for ELDEN RING: Nightreign, their upcoming standalone multiplayer co-op action survival game set in the brutal and beloved ELDEN RING universe. With its launch set for May 30 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game introduces a new format focused on survival, cooperation, and high-stakes PVE combat across dynamic day-night cycles.
Nightreign drops players into three-person squads (or solo if desired) and tasks them with surviving three full days and nights in a grim and ever-changing world. Each day ends with increasingly difficult bosses, culminating in a final showdown with a powerful Nightlord on the third day. Choosing the right Nightfarer, one of the game’s eight unique heroes, is critical to success. So far, four Nightfarers have been revealed, each with distinct styles, abilities, and trailers that highlight their unique flavor of combat.
The First Four Nightfarers
-
Recluse – A powerful arcane mage, the Recluse wields ancient, stolen magic with deadly precision. Her abilities are rooted in shadow and blood, punishing enemies from a distance with devastating elemental attacks.
-
Ironeye – A master archer and stealth specialist, Ironeye favors precision and speed. With an unyielding focus and a quiver full of lethal projectiles, she thrives in ranged combat, cutting through enemies before they can strike back.
-
Raider – A frontline tank with exceptional fortitude, the Raider excels at absorbing damage and delivering punishing blows. Built for players who enjoy close-quarters chaos, his unwavering presence on the battlefield makes him a key anchor for any team.
-
Duchess – Fast, deadly, and elusive, the Duchess strikes from the shadows and disappears before her enemies can react. Her gameplay revolves around hit-and-run tactics, ideal for players who love agility and surgical precision.
Four more Nightfarers will be revealed as the launch date nears, rounding out the roster with a blend of offensive, defensive, and support-oriented options. Even if players fall during a run, they’ll earn relics to help customize and upgrade their characters in future attempts, promoting long-term progression and personalization.
