Elden Ring Nightreign Unleashes Its First Limited-Time Event with New Everdark Sovereign Bosses
FromSoftware is shaking up its traditional post-launch formula with the arrival of Elden Ring Nightreign's first major live event. Just weeks after the game's release, the studio is introducing a new series of time-limited bosses called Everdark Sovereigns starting now with Adel, Baron of the Night, a deadly new form of the Nightlord Gaping Jaw.
Unlike the typical paid DLC expansions seen in Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls 3, these Sovereigns are being added as free, limited-time challenges, and they significantly raise the stakes for players looking to conquer the dark world of Nightreign.
What Are Everdark Sovereigns?
According to publisher Bandai Namco, the Everdark Sovereigns are more powerful, more aggressive versions of already formidable Nightlords. These elite bosses come with entirely new move sets and enhanced power, designed to challenge even the most experienced Nightfarers.
Here’s how the system works:
- A new Everdark Sovereign appears each week.
- You must have already defeated the base version of that Nightlord to face its Everdark form.
- Once the limited-time period ends, the boss will disappear from active expeditions—though it may return in the future.
- These bosses are only available while playing online.
The first boss, Adel, Baron of the Night, is live now until June 26 at 9:59 JST / 2:59 CEST / 5:59 PM PDT. Beating Adel during this window will grant players Sovereign Sigils, a new event-exclusive currency that can be used to unlock Relics and other powerful items. First-time victories award bonus Sigils.

A New Direction for FromSoftware
This event marks a clear pivot for FromSoftware, embracing live content and evolving endgame experiences in a way that’s more aligned with online roguelike design than the studio’s traditional static expansions. It’s a surprising yet exciting move especially since the added content comes at no additional cost.
By releasing high-difficulty bosses with rotating availability, Nightreign is pushing players to engage regularly and stay online to experience the full scope of its content. The added layer of exclusivity, rewards, and time pressure creates a compelling loop of challenge and reward that hardcore fans will likely devour.
FromSoftware isn’t slowing down. With Shadow of the Erdtree still fresh in fans’ memories and Nightreign carving out a new identity, the developer seems poised to evolve its legacy in real time.
The new Everdark Sovereigns are more than just bonus bosses they’re a test of adaptability, coordination, and raw skill. If Adel, Baron of the Night is any indication of what’s to come, then players had better sharpen their blades and prepare to die all over again.
