We reported back in February that there would be No Diablo 3 For 2011, based upon details that were released by Activision during the year-end investor conference call.
During the call, Activision COO and CFO Thomas Tippl stated that with no current release window for Blizzard's Diablo III, the publisher "felt it prudent" to omit the game from its 2011 financial outlook numbers.
Activision Blizzard's released their first-quarter earnings report for 2011 today, and during a follow-up call confirmed that the game should hit later this year. During the call, Blizzard Entertainment CEO Michael Morhaime offered an update on the status of Diablo III, stating that the game is targeted for release later this year. He expects external beta testing for Diablo III to begin during the third quarter of 2011 (July-September).
