Dragon Age 4 (reportedly titled "
The Dread Wolf Rises," but that would be one long name) was teased at The Game Awards 2018. A month later, we still know next to nothing about BioWare's next big thing after the release of
Anthem. While the game is quite mysterious, its development team is not, as
Mass Effect Writer Patrick Weekes and
Dragon Age II Cinematic Designer John Epler are working on
DA4.
The recently updated LinkedIn job listing suggests that this fourth entry in the acclaimed RPG series will be featuring a multiplayer mode. EA is currently looking for Franchise Technical Director at BioWare Edmonton, and the job's qualifications include "
experience developing multiplayer games," which clearly indicates that
DA4 will give players a chance to interact with each other to some extent.
In January 2018, we unofficially learned that the next
Dragon Age is codenamed "
Joplin" (BioWare's other game that was originally codenamed "
Dylan" ultimately turned out to be
Anthem) and has been rebooted, at least once. According to Kotaku's sources, EA's goal was to implement more “
live” elements into the game, suggesting that the studio was planning to add some online features into
DA4. After that job listing, it turns out this report was spot-on and
DA4 won't be released anytime soon.
BioWare's Dragon Age 4 doesn't have an official release date yet.
