BioWare has announced that the first patch for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated to arrive later this week. Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released on October 31st to generally favorable reviews. But there were still some issues to be fixed, and that's exactly what this first patch will aim to do.

BioWare noted that the patch "will include some bug fixes, minor balance changes, and some crash mitigations." Although the developer hasn't shared the full patch notes — which will come when the patch is released — they did share some examples of the issues being addressed.

  • Fixed an issue where some customizations were not applied to the Inquisitor correctly in one scene.
  • Fixed an issue where DLSS options could end up “grayed-out” on a 40-series Nvidia GPU. (PC only)
  • Fixed an issue that caused Companion Skill Points to reset.

This list is likely to be expanded upon once the full patch notes arrive later this week. BioWare hasn't given us an exact date for the patch, although the developer did state it will be coming to all platforms.

A sequel to 2014's Dragon Age: Inquisition, the long-awaited Dragon Age: The Veilguard  has been well received by critics. Depending on the platform, the Metascore average ranges from a 79 (on PC) to a 93 (on Xbox).

The"generally unfavorable" user score tells a different sort of story. Many of the user complaints appear more geared toward the game's narrative — with detractors labeling it as "woke" — than the actual technical or gameplay elements.

As previously reported, Dragon Age: The Veilguard won't be receiving any additional story content through downloadable expansions. BioWare has confirmed that the studio has now shifted its focus to the development of the new Mass Effect game. It seems, however, that players can still expect patches like the one coming this week, offering quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.

Enter the world of Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities – steeped in conflict and secret magics. Now, a pair of corrupt ancient gods have broken free from centuries of darkness and are hellbent on destroying the world.

Thedas needs someone they can count on. Rise as Rook, Dragon Age’s newest hero. Be who you want to be and play how you want to play as you fight to stop the gods from blighting the world. But you can’t do this alone – the odds are stacked against you. Lead a team of seven companions, each with their own rich story to discover and shape, and together you will become The Veilguard.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Be sure to check back later this week for the full patch notes.
