DRAGON AGE: DREADWOLF Reportedly One Of EA's Two "Unannounced" Games Launching This Year

EA has confirmed two "unannounced titles" set to release during the FY25, one of which is reportedly the long-awaited Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which was first announced in 2018.

During Electronic Arts' latest earnings report, the publisher provided a snapshot of some of its upcoming games releasing during the Fiscal Year 2025 (ending March 31, 2025).

The publisher broke down its new releases in FY25 by quarter, confirming Tales of Kenzera: Zau (April 23) and EA Sports F1 24 (May 31). In Q2, we've got EA Sports College Football 25, EA Sports Madden NFL 25, and EA Sports FC 25, none of which have release dates. We've also got EA Sports NHL 25 in Q3 and an untitled "partner title" in Q4.

Towards the bottom of the slide, EA notes: "We have two unannounced titles in FY25: one partner title expected in Q4, and one owned IP title, which is not included in the above table. We expect to provide more details on timing at a later date."

Eurogamer's Tom Phillips reports that the owned IP title is Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the long-awaited next installment in BioWare's fantasy role-playing series. According to the report, the game will be revealed this summer — perhaps during the Summer Game Fest in June.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is the fourth installment in the beloved role-playing franchise and sequel to 2014's Dragon Age: Inquisition. Development on the game, which first began in 2015, has been marked by lengthy delays and setbacks, including studio layoffs and multiple reboots.

But it seems like the game is finally on the right track with EA and BioWare promising back in December plans to show off a full reveal of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in Summer 2024. BioWare has released multiple teasers over the past couple of years, with the most recent coming five months ago.

Another cinematic teaser, released last year, was all about Solas, a playable character in Dragon Age: Inquisition who appears to be one of the major players in the upcoming game. Varric, another playable character who first appeared in Dragon Age 2, narrates the story of Solas, who was once known as Fen'Harel, the Dread Wolf.

Enter the world of Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities steeped in savage combat and secret magics. Now, the fate of this world teeters on a knife's edge.

Thedas needs a new leader — one they'll never see coming. You’ll forge a courageous fellowship to challenge the gathering storm. Friendship, drama, and romance will abound as you bring striking individuals together into an extraordinary team. Become the leader and light the beacon of hope in their darkest moments.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is currently in development and slated to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
