CD Projekt RED announced, just a couple of days ago, that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch, as one of the most unexpected — as well as well-received — third-party titles to be revealed for Nintendo's handheld hybrid console.
Right off the bat, however, players well able to see that the game had been obviously downgraded when it comes to graphics; providing that this was to be expected, since the game is quite graphically demanding and people were obviously going to compare it to its Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One counterparts.
On the official Twitter account for The Witcher, CD Projekt RED revealed that
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch will not be running at 1080p; aiming for 720p when docked with dynamic resolution enabled, and will run at 540p in handheld mode.
Other titles like
DOOM(2016),
Warframe, and
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus have proven that it is possible to deliver a stable experience on the Nintendo Switch, and
The Witcher 3 being even able to run on the Switch is already great news for fans of the series and players in general; all things considered, a lower resolution is a fair trade-off.
Winner of over 250 Game of the Year awards, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a story-driven, open world adventure set in a dark fantasy universe. The Complete Edition contains every piece of downloadable content released for the game, including two massive story expansions: Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition will be available for the Nintendo Switch in 2019.
