Shenmue III is the highly anticipated continuation to the story of Ryo Hazuki and his journey to find his father's murderer; Lan Di. The game was first announced during the E3 in 2015 and it was introduced as a Kickstarter by
Shenmue series creator Yu Suzuki.
In August of 2017, we finally got the first teaser for
Shenmue III and, while it look very rough around the edges, fans couldn't have been happier that the project was finally moving forward. The teaser was released using only small slices of the project that was, back then, still very early in development.
Back in May of this year, we got an announcement by THQ Nordic—the current publisher for the game—stating that the project still needed more polishing to hold it to a higher standard; thus delaying the game for an unspecified date in 2019.
Now, we finally have news regarding
Shenmue III and fans will be happy to hear that the game will officially come out on the
27th of August in 2019. The announcement came with a brand new trailer that looks way more polished than the first teaser we got back in 2017. Not only that but it teased Ryo Hazuki coming face-to-face with his father's murderer Lan Di—which is something that not only Ryo has been waiting for a long time, but fans of the series as well.
Take a look:
Shenmue III sees the continuation of the epic story-driven saga. The player controls teenage martial artist Ryo Hazuki as he investigates his father's murder.
Shenmue III will be available for the PlayStation 4 and PC on the 27th of August in 2019.
