Team Andromeda's classic (and in many ways, groundbreaking) on-rails shooters Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon Zwei will be remastered, Sega and Forever Entertainment have announced. The acclaimed titles originally launched on Sega Saturn in 1995 and 1996, and the first part of this remastered package is set to release in late 2019, bringing the beloved series to modern standards.
"Forever Entertainment under the license of SEGA Holding Co., Ltd. from Japan will create and publish Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake. The premiere of the first part is planned before the end of 2019!," the Polish studio announced. "The entire Panzer Dragoon series has been repeatedly remade and released on many platforms, but Forever Entertainment will reportedly feature "completely new graphics compatible with today’s standards and several modifications of the game, making it more attractive to modern players, while remaining faithful to the original in terms of story." Sega hasn't released any plans to remaster Panzer Dragoon Saga, yet.
According to Forever Ent., the first materials from the games will be presented in the coming months. Considering that we truly live in the age of remakes (that so far gave us Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Ratchet and Clank, with Resident Evil 2, MediEvil, and countless others in the pipeline), it comes as no surprise that Sega is also jumping on the nostalgia bandwagon.
