Cuphead debuted earlier this year and instantly conquered the top-selling lists on every platform it launched. The game is a gorgeously looking product heavily influenced by the first animated movies made by Walt Disney or Fleisher's cartoons. It wasn't the only
Cuphead's asset, as the game was just a joy to play with its challenging, similar to
Meatboy gameplay.
Cuphead exceeds all StudioMDHR's expectations selling more than two million copies since the debut. We haven't heard about the possible sequel yet, but there's a huge chance we'll get one in the future. The studio sent an open letter to all the fans who supported their project thanking them for the help and wishing everyone a joyful 2018:
Hello friends! Much to our shock and amazement, we can announce that Cuphead has now sold over 2 million copies across all platforms. Even in our wildest dreams, we never thought our crazy little characters would be embraced by this many fans from around the world and we are continuously humbled by your support.
So to everyone who has drawn fan art, composed memes, performed songs, conquered challenge runs, streamed their playthrough, or just played Cuphead and had a good time, we love and appreciate all of you from the bottom of our hearts.
Thanks to the best fans in the world and here’s to a joyful 2018!
Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.
