Unknown Worlds Entertainment's Subnautica is an open world survival adventure game that allows you to explore the beautiful underwater world of an alien ocean planet, 4546B. Subnautica was first released in Steam Early Access in December 2014, Mac OS X in June 2015, and for Xbox One in May 2016, The full release out of early access happened in January 2018, exclusively for PC on Steam.
Finally, PlayStation 4 owners will finally have a chance to check out one of the best-reviewed survival games currently available, reaching an anstonishing 87% on Metacritic with 38 reviews. "Ever since the earliest days of Subnautica on Steam, we have received constant requests for Subnautica to come to Sony’s console," Unknown Worlds explained in the official press release. "Well, we heard you, and we are thrilled to be able to announce that we are working to make your requests a reality."
The studio has partnered with Panic Button Games, experts in console development who are also helping to accelerate development on Subnautica Xbox. Gearbox Publishing will publish physical editions of Subnautica for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which are available for pre-order starting today.
