Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's second season of content was supposed to launch this week, but as you may have noticed, nothing has been added.
Just days before the season's launch, Rocksteady Studios announced on social media that Season 2 would be delayed. It's now scheduled to launch on July 25th. No reason was given for the delay.
Rocksteady had revealed the contents for Season 2 of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League earlier this month. The new season will consist of two episodes: "Episode 3: Frozen Hearts" and "Episode 4: Winter". The highlight of the season is the addition of Mrs. Freeze as a playable character.
We have yet to see any actual gameplay for Mrs. Freeze, but based on the teaser, she appears to be a gender-swapped Elseworlds version of Mr. Freeze, presumably with similar ice-based abilities. In addition to the new character, Episode 3 and Episode 4 will introduce new collectibles, skins, and weapons. The new Infamy Set appears to be inspired by Killer Frost, while the Notorious Gear represents Firefly. Captain Cold, Icicle, and Trickster are also receiving themed tie-in weapons.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released earlier this year to mixed reviews. While the action shooter was praised for its gameplay, it received criticism for its repetitive gameplay loop and live-service elements.
The lackluster reception ultimately led to disappointing sales for the game. Warner Bros. deemed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League a financial failure, with the publisher taking a reported $200 million loss from the game. Despite being a commercial failure, Warner Bros. is apparently sticking with the game, at least for the foreseeable future. It's unclear what's in store for Suicide Squad beyond this next season as no plans have been outlined on the game's roadmap beyond Episode 4.
From Rocksteady Studios, the creators of the Batman Arkham series, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a genre-defying third-person action shooter where the ultimate band of misfits must do the impossible to save the world: Kill the Justice League.
While the game may not have sold well, there's a chance it could find new life thanks to a new promotion from Prime Gaming. It was recently revealed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be offered for free to anyone with an Amazon Prime membership through Prime Gaming. Beginning this week, Prime Gaming members will be able to claim Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League for free on PC — just in time for the game's second season to arrive.
