Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is an open world game that showcases our species' evolution in Neogene Africa starting 10 million years ago. The first trailer for this intriguing title was released during last week's The Game Awards focusing on all the ways your in-game character can be hurt and eaten, as the protagonist is a fragile creature that can be killed by huge snakes or infuriated boars.
Speaking of getting killed, GameSpot has released a gameplay demo from the upcoming
Ancestors: Humankind Odyssey that shows us what might have happened when an ancient bird was trying to hunt Ardipithecus.
Ancestors is Patrice Désilets' first major project since his departure from Ubisoft. Between 2009 and 2012, Désilets was working on
1666: Amsterdam, but it went down with THQ.
According to Désilets,
The Humankind Odyssey is a third-person open world survival game where you explore, expand, and most importantly, evolve to advance your clan to the next generation. While the said gameplay video is a little rough around the edges,
Ancestors definitely is one of the most unique looking games of this generation of consoles. Be sure to take a look at
The Humankind Odyssey below:
Embark on the most incredible odyssey known to humankind: human evolution. Spanning from 10 million to 2 million years ago, begin your journey, “Before Us,” in Neogene period Africa.
