At The Game Awards 2018, Midwinter Entertainment announced Scavengers, a futuristic survival shooter “co-opetition” game. Midwinter is an independent development studio founded by game industry veterans, who made the vastly popular Halo 5: Guardians' Warzone mode, with the mission of creating meaningful connections through experiences that demand player teamwork.

Scavengers will release in 2019, though no platforms have been specified for the game just yet. The game's cinematic trailer doesn't reveal much either, as it's focused solely on the game's open-world universe. At the very least, Midwinter has revealed a list of things that will try to kill you in Scavengers: Savage Outlander raiders, mutated Scourge monstrosities, extreme weather, gnawing starvation, opposing players, and the occasional angry grizzly bear.

Opposing teams in Scavengers are more than just targets, as you’ll need to work together to achieve larger goals, but just like in Tom Clancy's The Division's Dark Zones, players will be able to turn on one another once their allegiances have ended. Gamers interested in checking out the title can sign up for playtests in 2019 on the game’s website. Be sure to take a quick look at Scavengers down below:

In a not-so-distant future, a cataclysmic event has led to a new ice age, and a vast, frozen wasteland awaits exploration. The best chance of overcoming the challenges of this post-apocalyptic world is by working together. Faced with extreme weather and limited resources, hostile inhabitants and opposing players, explorers must team up to complete objectives, improve their gear, weapons, and tools, and ensure the survival of the human race.

Scavengers doesn't have a set release date or specified platforms.
