It's been a few years since Rainbow 6 fans last saw a console game for the tactical shooter franchise, but Ubisoft announced last week that a new game is on the way. Ubisoft has revealed that Rainbow 6 Patriots will be arriving in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
"Terrorism has evolved and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction," Ubisoft creative director David Sears said in announcing the title. "This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience."
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, with assistance from Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm, Rainbow 6 Patriots will follow the counterterrorism Team Rainbow squad as it tries to bring down a group of American insurgents known as the True Patriots. According to Ubisoft, players will be faced with "tough ethical decisions," as they attempt to suppress the True Patriot's revolution.
Rainbow 6 Patriots will also include cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.
The last game to hit consoles in the Rainbow 6 franchies was
Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, which was released in 2008.
