Team Sonic Racing is Sega's next racing game featuring characters from the Sonic series, unlike the Sonic & All Stars Racing series—which features characters from other Sega IPs. Although the game looks very similar to the All Stars Racing series, Team Sonic Racing is introducing team mechanics, which promise to make the races even more dynamic.

Today, Sega has released a new video that shows off some of the new Team Mechanics that can be found in Team Sonic Racing, which will benefit racers throughout the race. If used properly, these Team Mechanics can be very beneficial to the whole team.

Skimboost allows players to get past struggling teammates and help them get back in the race. The same way, players can also be helped by their teammates by using the Slingshot, which gives players a boost if they draft behind a teammate's slipstream.

Rival Takedown let's players highlight their opponents and knock them out and speed past them. Players can also help their teammates by using Item Box Transfer which, like the name suggests, allows them to send—as well as receive—wisps(item boxes) at any time, and anywhere on the track.

There is another benefit to using these Team Mechanics during the race, which can help the whole team win the race. If players keep using Team Mechanics throughout the race they will fill the Team Ultimate Meter, which unleashes a massive Team Boost.
