During the latest PlayStation State of Play, we were treated to a new gameplay trailer for The Callisto Protocol, a story-driven survival horror game. It gave off some serious Dead Space vibes, and for good reason too.
The Callisto Protocol is actually developed by Striking Distance Studios, which is led by Glen Schofield, the creator and executive producer of Dead Space. It seems Schofield is keen on locking us inside space stations with creepy aliens and mutated humans all looking to feast on our faces.
The Callisto Protocol puts us in the shoes of Jacob Lee, a prisoner at Black Iron Prison which is located on Jupiter's moon Callisto. It's unclear exactly what happens, but Lee finds himself in the midst of an alien invasion, and his only chance for survival is some mysterious voice.
In the trailer below, we get a glimpse of the gore and terrifying gameplay that awaits us when The Callisto Protocol releases later this year. We've got tight, dimly lit corridors, horrifying creatures, and brutal violence. Although players are armed with a mix of melee and ranged weapons, we see what can happen to poor Jacob Lee if things go bad. Spoiler, it's not pretty.
The Callisto Protocol launches on December 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
