Publisher Annapurna Interactive and Giant Squid, the makers of wonderful aquatic adventure
ABZÛ, have announced
The Pathless at The Game Awards 2018 with a truly outstanding gameplay trailer that spotlights the Hunter, a master of archery who travels to a mystical island to dispel a curse of darkness that grips the world, and her bird companion that will help her hunt deadly and corrupted spirits.
The Pathless is slated to come out in 2019 on PC and PlayStation 4. As far as the former goes, it's so far only listed for release on the Epic Store, as appears to be the case with all new offerings from Annapurna on the platform. Considering that
ABZÛ is also available on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, there's a chance that the users of said console systems will also experience
The Pathless at some point.
Giant Squid Studios was founded by Matt Nava, formerly art director on ThatGameCompany's astonishing PlayStation exclusive
Journey. A quick look at
The Pathless reveal trailer (that you can check out down below) suggests that the upcoming title might be another visual masterpiece of Nava and his team, as the critically acclaimed
ABZÛ and
Journey hold a special place in players' heart. Take a look:
Become the Hunter, a master of archery who travels to a mystical island to dispel a curse of darkness that grips the world. Forge a connection with your eagle companion as you hunt corrupted spirits, but be careful to not become the hunted yourself. Explore misty forests full of secrets, solve puzzles in ancient ruins, and test your skill in epic battles. The bond with your eagle and the fate of the world hang in the balance.
The Pathless is coming to the Epic Games Store and PlayStation 4 in 2019.
