The San Francisco-based Double Fine Productions was founded in July 2000 by Tim Schafer after his departure from LucasArts. Since that time, Double Fine has launched over 20 critically acclaimed titles such as
Brütal Legend, Broken Age, Grim Fandango Remastered, Massive Chalice, and
Psychonauts, Double Fine's very first game that was released back in 2005 for PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC.
After nearly 14 years,
Psychonauts is going to get a sequel, as
Psychonauts 2 is set to release in 2019 on PC and yet unspecified consoles. At the end of 2015, Double Fine launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to finance the game's budget. Backers pledged 3.8 million dollars toward the long awaited sequel, surpassing the backing goal by $500,000, as Starbreeze also invested $8 million into production, allowing Double Fine to create a brand new, more complex than ever world inside Psychonauts HQ.
During The Game Awards 2018, the audience had a chance to see the first official trailer for
Psychonauts 2 spotlighting Razputin Aquato's epic quest to stop a shady organization from resurrecting history's most cruelly powerful psychic villains. To say that the trailer is mind-boggling would be an understatement, so be sure to take a look at a brand new
Psychonauts adventure down below:
Psychonauts 2 tells the story of Razputin Aquato, a gifted acrobat with psychic powers, as he fulfills his goal of becoming an international psychic super-spy. In other words, a Psychonaut. Raz joins the Psychonauts at a dangerous time: a mole has infiltrated the organization and is planning to resurrect history's most cruelly powerful psychic villains. Not knowing who to trust, Raz must dive into the history of the Psychonauts, and that of his own family, to fight the demons of their shared past.
Psychonauts 2 is set to release in 2019, on PC and consoles.
