Dimension Drive is a vertical space shooter developed and published by Dutch independent developer 2Awesome Studio. The game was released for the Nintendo Switch and Steam in 2017 on the 7th of December, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports releasing
today.
The game introduces a dual-battlefield mechanic that vertically splits the screen in two, giving players two different battlefields to focus their attention on. Players can drift from one side to the other, so they have to pay attention in order to teleport safely without running into other objects.
Dimension Drive features 4 difficulty modes that go from Normal to Hard, Extreme and Insane, which makes for a very challenging space shooter experience.
In the same vein of classic space shooters, players can choose to play with shields in Normal mode, or go for one hit kills in Hard and Extreme. Insane is pretty self explanatory as players will only be granted the one ship, which can only take one hit.
Dimension Drive gives players the classic vertical space shooter experience with new mechanics that keep things interesting. The game also adds some clever level design and puzzles that sets this game apart from other titles in the genre. Players can also choose to go it alone and take up the challenge by playing solo or teaming up with their friends in local co-op.
Since
Dimension Drive is becoming available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today, we get a launch trailer that shows off some of the gameplay, as well as couch co-op.
