Sony's Live-Action UNCHARTED Film Officially Receives A Winter 2020 Release Date
Following a somewhat recent change in directors, Sony's live-action Uncharted film has officially set a 2020 release date. Hit the jump for more info on the release of the highly anticipated video game movie.
After some shuffling behind the scenes, which saw Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) replace Shawn Levy as director, Sony has officially set a release date for the Tom Holland-led Uncharted film.
As reported by Deadline, the live-action video game adaptation will be racing into theaters just in time for the holiday season, as it gets set to release on December 18, 2020.
While the month of December has been dominated by Star Wars movies in the past few years, Lucasfilm won't be releasing a new installment in 2020. As a result, Steven Spielberg's West Side Story remake is currently the only big competition facing Uncharted.
Unlike its video game counterparts, Trachtenberg's Uncharted film is expected to focus on a much younger Nathan Drake — hence the casting of Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland — and has a screenplay written by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker.
