SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Star Tom Holland Will Play Nathan Drake In UNCHARTED
The Uncharted movie from director Shawn Levy is heading in a very unexpected direction as it's been revealed today that Tom Holland will play Nathan Drake in an adventure focusing on him as a youngster.
Uncharted has been stuck in development hell for quite some time, but the movie is finally happening and heading in a direction it's fair to say most of us didn't expect! Shawn Levy has been attached to direct for a while, of course, but the movie has been overhauled as a prequel focusing on Nathan Drake as a youngster.
Taking inspiration from a sequence in the third instalment of the series, it sounds like the movie will pick up with Nate shortly after meeting Sully and his path to becoming the man we know and love from the critically acclaimed games.
According to Deadline, the idea to have the Uncharted franchise focus on a young Nate came from Sony boss Tom Rothman seeing the latest cut of Spider-Man: Homecoming. He clearly felt that Tom Holland - who will indeed play the character as we mentioned in the headline - is worth building another film around and now Joe Carnahan's script is being rewritten by a currently unknown scribe.
It's a shame to lose the R-Rated action movie we were seemingly promised for a movie revolving around presumably a teenage Nate, but this has some potential and is a realm that Levy is well suited to given his past work. What do you guys think?
