The Uncharted movie has been in development for years now, but it's been a very long time since we've heard any significant updates. Fans haven't been overly enthusiastic about it being adpated, especially as the games are so cinematic, and now Nathan Dake voice actor Nolan North has weighed in on the chances of it happening and whether or not he'd like to make a cameo appearance.
"I wanted the part, back 10 years ago when I was 34/35 doing this kinda thing, but it's taken forever," he confessed in a recent interview with The Daily Star. "People who've seen the script are comparing it to to Indiana Jones and National Treasure, but there's still a lot of work and, truthfully, I think it's got an uphill battle." That's a fair point based on what we've heard in the past, and it seems like Sony are struggling with adapting the property, and North doesn't seem keen on being involved.
"I'm not going to be a guy who walks into the camera and says, 'Your drink, Mr. Drake.' I don't need that funny 'Where's Waldo?' thing on my CV." Having admitted he's too old to play a live-action version of the character now, North revealed who he would like to see take on the role, and he's none too keen on one time rumoured candidate Mark Wahlberg. Saying he "really [doesn't] see it," in regards to the actor, he then went on to suggest that Chris Pratt would be a good option. "He's vulnerable, he's kinda funny, he's kinda that hero with a smirk, cocky and confident. That scene when he says 'I'm Starlord' [in Guardians of the Galaxy], that's such a Drake moment." However, he confirmed reports that the Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star turned it down.
It now remains to be seen what happens with the Uncharted movie, but if Sony can't even get the star of the games on board, it's hard to imagine that fans will ever get 100% behind this adaptation...
